  1. This is a grand little application in its latest version. Lee Cohen, the author has given specific permission for us to distribute Mac CallerID. Do not place this program on any other Online system without the specific permission of Mr. Cohen.

  3. DESCRIPTION

  5. Mac CallerID© is a shareware application that will display and
  6. store specific information provided by your local telephone
  7. company.  You must subscribe to your local telephone company’s
  8. “caller information and identification service,” commonly known
  9. as Caller ID.   This application is similar to the Caller ID
  10. boxes available in many stores, but is available at a fraction
  11. of the cost.  A lot of work went into the application, and
  12. hopefully you will agree that it is worth the nominal fee or
  13. more.

  15. The caller's name, number, date and time can be displayed as
  16. a single call or in a list of all calls.  Mac CallerID should
  17. work in the United States, Canada and Sweden.

  19. Mac CallerID©  REQUIRES THAT YOU ARE IN AN AREA WHERE CALLER ID
  20. IS AVAILABLE, YOU ARE A SUBSCRIBER AND HAVE A MODEM THAT
  21. SUPPORTS CALLER ID.

  24. What is Caller ID?
  25.  
  26. Caller ID is a way for you to determine who is calling before
  27. you answer the phone.  Between the first and second rings,
  28. the phone company sends information about who is calling.
  29. Not all the information is always available, many times the
  30. call might have originated from an area that does not support
  31. Caller ID.  At other times the call may be blocked by the
  32. calling party.

  39. •  Modem with Caller ID support
  40. •  Caller ID service must be provided by your local telephone 
  41.    company and you must subscribe to     the service.

  44. Mac CallerID©  - STANDARD FEATURES (UNREGISTERED VERSION)
  45. •  Mac CallerID© displays the complete telephone number, name,
  46.             area code, time and date of the call.
  47. •  It can display a single call or a list of all calls.  All 
  48.    available information will be displayed.  Calls that have no 
  49.    data will not be displayed.
  50. •  Calls with phone numbers can be dialed via the Macintosh
  51.    speaker or through the modem.
  52. •  The Mac CallerID© database can be read into ClarisWorks or
  53.    another similar application to create an instant database of
  54.    callers.
  55. •  New calls will be displayed automatically, you will be
  56.    notified by the flashing new call indicator in the top right
  57.    hand corner of the window.  Clicking any button or the new
  58.    call indicator will stop the indicator from flashing.
  59. •  Metro Dialing Option, this enables you to dial a number that
  60.    requires an area code but does not need a 1 in front of the
  61.    number.  
  62. •  Works in the United States, Sweden, and Canada.  Tested in the
  63.    following Canadian Provinces: Manitoba, Saskatchewan,
  64.    and Ontario.
  65. •  Works with Supra, Zyxel, Motorola, some Global Village,
  66.    and PowerBit modems.

  70. •  Printing a single call or a list of all calls.
  71. •  SubstituteCaller.  When a call comes in with a telephone
  72.    number and no name, Mac CallerID©  will attach the specified
  73.    name.
  74. •  Find the next or previous occurrence of a name, phone
  75.    number or date in the database.
  76. •  Many "Core" Apple Events are supported.  Supported events
  77.    from the "Core" suite are: count, delete, get data, get data
  78.    size.
  79.    Note "DELETE" will delete the specified call without
  80.    prompting the user.
  81.    Miscellaneous AppleEvents: InitModem and ReleaseModem.
  82. •  Copy the currently displayed or selected caller information
  83.    to the clipboard.
  84. •  PREFERENCES FEATURES:
  85.             •  Replace displayed name with user specified name.
  86.       For example if a call comes in with XYZ company
  87.       303 123-1234, you can specify that the name be replaced
  88.       with Mr. Nobody.  This is done by adding the name and
  89.       number to the "SubstituteCaller" dialog.
  90.    •  Hide or shrink the Mac CallerID©  window when the
  91.       application is in the background. 
  92.    •  Bring Mac CallerID©  to the front when a call comes in.
  93.    •  Delete all calls that do not have a number when quitting
  94.       the application.
  95.    •  Delete all calls when quitting the application.
  96.    •  Display the single or all calls view when starting
  97.       Mac CallerID© .
  98.    •  Speak the name or number of the caller. 
  99.       Note you must have the Speech Manager Extension installed
  100.       to use this feature.

  102.       comes in.
